Cracks are actually tears in the elastic tissue of the skin as a result of excessive stretching of the skin. The skin cannot keep up with the growth rate of other structures such as subcutaneous muscle, bone, adipose tissue, and when it cannot stretch sufficiently, the tissue is damaged. These lines, which can be thick or thin, in a color between red and purple when they are first formed, acquire a pearlescent white color as they age over time. Cracks, which are mostly seen in the abdomen, hips, thighs and breasts, are caused by rapid growth, shape or excessive weight changes in body areas. In adolescence, while our height is getting longer or our body takes its feminine shape; occurs in the breasts, buttocks. During pregnancy, they mostly occur in the abdominal region.

Many factors are effective in crack formation. While some women who are genetically lucky do not have a single crack in any period of their life, some unlucky women can even have stretch marks with 4-5 kilograms of weight changes. Generally, fair-skinned and dry-skinned women are more prone to cracking.

OTHER TREATMENT METHODS

Whatever we do, sometimes cracks cannot be prevented despite all precautions. There are various treatment options available to reduce cracks and improve their appearance. Microneedling and fractional laser applications are the most frequently preferred methods in the treatment of stretch marks. In microneedling treatment, 250-300 microchannels are opened in an area of 1 centimeter in the skin with the help of millimeter needles. During the procedure, various vitamins, growth factors, peptide and stem cell extracts that are applied to the skin reach under the skin by passing through these microchannels. Tissue regeneration and collagen production are tried to be achieved thanks to the stimulation created by each needle tip on the skin and the solutions applied. This method, which can be applied to all skin types in all seasons, can be repeated 6-10 times with 2-3 week intervals. In fractional laser treatment, which is one of the newest and most effective methods in the treatment of skin cracks, microscopic wounds are formed in the cracked areas and new collagen and skin formation occurs in these areas. With this treatment, which can be applied every 6 weeks in all skin cracks, including old ones, a response of more than 50 percent can be obtained.
